It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but I've never studied any other languages because I've always communicated in English. Even though English works for communication and work worldwide, I really want to learn Spanish now. It's scary to start something new when you've never done it before, and I can't afford a tutor right now.

But you can definitely get the basics with different apps or language platforms. My friend uses Duolingo and loves it. He says the tasks are varied, the study material is interesting, and it's not boring to learn.

I've heard a lot of good things about Duolingo too. There are other options out there that might not be as popular but are definitely worth checking out for anyone wanting to learn a new language. Learning a new language isn't harder than studying sciences or getting into new technologies. The key is to find the approach or method that works best for you. For me, the most effective language learning app has been Memrise. It works great on my iPhone, so I don't have to worry about having my laptop with me. I can't stand long lessons, and this app has short, interesting ones. Plus, it has a live video chat feature, which is a top-notch function when learning languages.
